Structure and governance
ANZCA is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation governed by a council of 14 directors, including 12 elected members of the College from Australia and New Zealand who serve for three-year terms up to 12 years; a new Fellow councillor who serves for two years and the Dean of the Faculty of Pain Medicine. The work of these anaesthetists, and those who run education, training and continuing professional development (CPD) programs, is largely pro bono.
The College’s training, education and assessment programs are reviewed by the Australian Medical Council and the Medical Council of New Zealand, which ensure that the education provided is contemporary and relevant and of the highest international standard.

The scope of ANZCA's activities is outlined in ANZCA's Constitution and mission statement and its objectives are identified in the triennial ANZCA strategy.
The ANZCA Constitution
The ANZCA Constitution sets out the form, reasons for and purpose of the College. It defines the objectives of the College and lists the powers vested in the corporate entity to achieve those objectives. Income and property accrued by the College shall be applied solely to achieve the stated purposes. The constitution requires financial accounts to be kept and audited annually by an external auditor.

It covers a wide range of operational areas including the powers of the council, admission of Fellows, postal ballots, subscriptions, cessation of membership, discipline, reinstatement and indemnity.
