Queensland ACE June evening lecture

Join us in Brisbane on June 25 for the Queensland ACE June evening lecture, "The ups and downs of hyperbaric and altitude physiology".

Guest speakers

"Working under pressure"
Dr Susannah Sherlock is a senior staff specialist in anaesthesia at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and visiting medical officer at The Prince Charles Hospital, with hyperbaric experience in three states and four hyperbaric units. Dr Sherlock trained and worked in Melbourne, Hobart and Brisbane, and is also Supervisor of Training (for advanced diploma in diving and hyperbaric medicine) and Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.

"Flying high"
Dr Carolyn Jack is a self-proclaimed barometric pressure change geek, finding fascination in the effects of pressure on the body.  This started after she started working for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 2008. Following multiple deployments Dr Jack attended the Diploma in Aviation Medicine run by Kings College London in the United Kingdom, which she was awarded in 2013. On return to Australia she worked as the Chief Instructor for the RAAF Institute of Aviation Medicine, transitioning to civilian life in 2016 to pursue further physician training. Highlights of her training so far have been to fly with the Roulettes, hit 6G in a Hawk, 8G in a centrifuge, and watch the sun rise over Gallipoli on ANZAC Day.
