Dr Andrew Mulcahy
Andrew Mulcahy is President of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists
(ASA) and immediate past chair of the Economics Advisory Committee
(EAC). He has been an office bearer with the ASA since 1990 and has
held the positions of state chair, state economics advisory officer,
member of the EAC and convenor of the national scientific congress as
well as membership of various federal committees. Andrew has
represented the Australian medical profession in discussions with
government and the health Industry through involvement with government
and industry committees including the Anaesthesia Services Liaison
Group, the Informed Financial Consent Taskforce, the Promoting Private
Health Group and the Intraoperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography
Working Group. He has been treasurer and a member of the Council of the
Medical Protection Society of Tasmania for 18 years. In 2009 he
accepted a ministerial appointment to the Tasmanian Medical Council and
was subsequently appointed to the Tasmanian Medical Board from July
2010. He is a visiting medical officer at the Royal Hobart Hospital and
works in a private practice in Hobart as a member of the Hobart
Anaesthetic Group.
