Professor John Myburgh
John
Myburgh is Professor of Critical Care Medicine at the University
of New South Wales, Director of the
Critical Care and Trauma at the George Institute for Global Health and Senior
Intensive Care physician in the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at The St
George Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He holds honorary
professorial appointments at Sydney and Monash Universities. He
is President of the College of Intensive Care Medicine and has served on the Board
of the Joint Faculty and College of
Intensive Care Medicine
since 2002, during which time he has held portfolios as Vice Dean, Research
Officer, Education Officer, ASM Officer and Treasurer. He
completed 12 years as a senior fellowship examiner in 2009 and was instrumental
in establishing the inaugural Annual Scientific Meeting of the Joint Faculty in
2005. He
has an international research reputation and has published over 100 original
articles and 20 book chapters. He has received over $30 million in grant
funding since 1998 and has delivered plenary lectures at major international
and national meetings on aspects of catecholamine physiology and pharmacology,
traumatic brain injury, fluid resuscitation and large-scale clinical trials in intensive
care. He
is a foundation member and past chair of the Australian and New Zealand
Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group.
