About ANZCA

College Arms ColourThe Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists has a proud record of promoting professional standards and patient safety in the many areas of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine.  It does this through education in the science and practice of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine.

The scope of its practice is outlined in its Constitution and Mission Statement, and its targeted objectives is identified in its triennial strategy.  The 2007-09 ANZCA Strategy was reviewed and updated by Council in August 2007.  An outline of the 2006 strategic and operational results can be obtained in the 2006 Annual Report. The 2007 Annual Report is now available, prior to the ANZCA AGM at the ASM in Sydney on Tuesday, 6 May 2008.

The College has developed a Code of Professional Conduct (pdf icon 135 kB) which outlines the professional behaviour and standards expected of Fellows of the College.

The College is proud of its history, and continues to evolve to meet the changing demands of the profession and the patients that it serves.  A major initiative undertaken in 2006 was the launch of the ANZCA Foundation, a vehicle for funding critical research in anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine.  In 2007, the College also adopted a new logo to complement the traditional College Arms and Crest.
