ETHICS AND RESEARCH IN INTENSIVE CARE

This presentation will cover some of the ethical difficulties that arise when conducting research in Intensive Care. Specific topics addressed will include informed consent, conflict of interest, guardianship, the privacy legislation, and the distinction between quality assurance and research. The experience of the Intensive Care community in addressing these issues on a collaborative basis will be discussed.
