CPD standard and policies

ANZCA is accredited by the Australian Medical Council, and authorised by the New Zealand Medical Council, to set continuing professional development (CPD) standards. This standard applies to all specialist anaesthetists and specialist pain medicine physicians in Australia and New Zealand.

The ANZCA CPD Standard was last updated on December 2018, to include ANZCA Council’s approval to include a new emergency response standard on acute severe behavioural disturbance (ASBD) for adult patients. Implementation in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program from 2019, please visit the Emergency Response activities page for more information on ASBD.

Mandatory Compliance Policy

The Mandatory Compliance Policy defines the requirement for fellows of ANZCA, including FPM specialists, to comply with the standard for CPD set by the college.

Special Consideration Policy

Special consideration can be granted retrospectively for circumstances considered compelling and/or compassionate (beyond the control of the participant which impacts on progress or well being), that have impacted on fellows' ability to meet the minimum CPD requirements within their CPD triennium.
