Instructions for CPD Participation
Participants in the Continuing Professional Development Program will need to maintain a portfolio of activities.
Online CPD Portfolio Instructions
Introduction
All Fellows are enrolled automatically in the CPD Program. Anaesthetists who are not Fellows of ANZCA may also participate, please see the Application Form for Non-Fellows.
All participants are required to maintain a CPD Portfolio. This can be done online or offline. The online program is accessed through the ANZCA website using your College ID number and password.
There are two options for participating offline:
- Print the CPD Portfolio Paper Folder and record your activities by hand.
- Download the activity record sheets to your computer and keep an electronic record of your activities.
Offline users can submit annual or program returns online to automatically receive Statements of Participation and Certificates of Completion.
Your CPD Portfolio should include the following sections:
- A CPD Plan
- A record of activities undertaken
- Reflection Notes
- Evaluation of Program
CPD Plan
The first stage of the CPD Program is to draft your CPD Plan for the triennium. Those using the online CPD Portfolio will find this section in the left hand menu. It is recommended that those recording their activities electronically should create their CPD Plan in a Word document and store it in the same path as their activity records. A template document has been included in the printable version of the portfolio for those who prefer to keep hard copies.
You design your CPD Plan exclusively for you, to help you in your professional development. You may wish to modify your Plan during your triennial CPD Program, but the Plan will remain the focus and reference point for your Continuing Professional Development. A Toolkit to Develop Your Individual CPD Plan is included in the Program Booklet and it is recommended that you use this toolkit to develop your CPD Plan.
Recording Activities
During your CPD cycle you will need to record the activities you have undertaken under each Category/Level. Definitions of the activity types, credit allocation and credit requirements can be found in the Program Framework. (Page 5-6 of the program booklet)
Reflection Notes
Reflection is an important process of personal and professional learning. You should engage in Reflection whenever an experience or outcome has some impact on you, either adverse or positive.
A Toolkit on Reflection is available to assist you with this area.
Evaluation
You are required to complete an evaluation of your program at the end of your cycle. Evaluation helps you to assess your achievements and whether your CPD Plan’s objectives were met.
A Toolkit to Conduct an Evaluation of Your CPD is available to assist with this requirement of the Program.
