Inadvertent use of Phenol to spray vocal cords

A recent incident has occurred in Australia resulting in the inadvertent use of Phenol instead of Lignocaine to spray the vocal cords prior to intubation.
 
A photo of the two preparations can be seen below.
 
This alert is intended to highlight the similarities in presentation of the two medications and alert clinicians to exercise caution when using either of these preparations.
