Update: TGA Safety review: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and spontaneous abortion

The TGA has published a report following its review of the Product Information documents and package warnings for all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and their potential for increased risk of miscarriage with exposure during pregnancy.

Do not use if likely to become pregnant, or during the first 6 months of pregnancy except on doctor's advice. Do not use at all during the last three months of pregnancy.

The evaluation includes comparisons of Australian and international product information documents across the range of NSAIDs; a review of mandated warnings, published literature and therapeutic guidelines; and an analysis of case reports from the TGA Adverse Drug Reactions System database.
