The conference for “Everything Airways” of the Airway Management Special Interest Group (SIG) will be held from March 18-20, 2011. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency Coolum Resort, Queensland.
This is the 2nd annual conference for the AirwayManagement SIG and we anticipate between 150 and 200 delegates from all over Australia and New Zealand.
We are lucky to have two international guest speakers for the 2011 Airways Management Conference. Professor Friedrich Pühringer is Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Klinikum am Steinenberg in Reutlingen, an academic hospital of the University of Tübingen, in Germany since 2000. Professor Pühringer’s main research interests are within pharmacology of muscle relaxants and neuromuscular monitoring, airway management and the use of fiberoptics and supraglottic airway devices in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
Also speaking is Carin A. Hagberg, M.D. who is currently the Joseph C. Gabel Professor and Chair, as well as Medical Director of Perioperative Services at Memorial Herman Hospital - Texas Medical Center in Houston. The focus of Dr. Hagberg’s career has been neuroanesthesia and difficult airway management, including both educational and clinical research aspects of this area. Dr Carin Hagberg was the past president of the American Society of Airway Management (SAM).
I look forward to seeing you on the Sunshine Coast!
Yours sincerely,
Chris Acott, Convenor
