2017 Airway Management SIG Meeting


Join a panel of international and Australasian experts in the Sunshine State this May to discover, discuss and debate the BIG airway questions and the latest developments in airway managment



We're running this meeting as a satellite to the 2017 ASM, which means that, in addition to a two-day program of presentations from international and Australasian experts, we'll also be offering a range of optional airway management workshops held in conjunction with the ANZCA ASM workshops.

Sessions | Wednesday May 10 and Thursday May 11

The two-day program of presentations is included in your standard SIG meeting registration package and will cover off the following topics:  

  • The law and you.
  • Difficult airway crisis management.
  • Supraglottic airway devices.
  • Advances in airway management.
  • The anaesthetist under the gun.
  • Debates on airway management.

Optional workshops | Friday May 12

A full day of optional airway management workshops will be held in conjunction with the ANZCA ASM. Please note, the workshops are not included in the SIG meeting registration fee and can be booked individually at time of registration.

  • Professor Carin Hagberg former president of the Difficult Airway Society, USA
  • Professor Ellen O’Sullivan President of the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland
  • Dr Anil Patel, University College London Hospitals, UK.
  • Dr Mark Stacey Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist and Associate Dean, UK.

Conference dinner

The dinner is included in your registration and will be held along the Brisbane River at Gusto da Gianni Hamilton. Coaches will transfer the guests from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to the restaurant. The coaches will return the guests back to the Convention centre at the conclusion of the dinner.


This event is claimable by ANZCA CPD participants within the following categories:

Knowledge and skills activities
Lectures session for one credit per hour.  Workshops and masterclasses for two credits per hour.

Emergency responses activities
ANZCA workshop education sessions that include can’t intubate, can’t oxygenate (CICO), cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, or major haemorrhage can be claimed but they must have been prospectively recognised as suitable to be claimed as an emergency response activity.
