Simulation and Skills Training

Objective

Welcome to the web pages for the Simulation and Skills Training SIG. The aims of this SIG are:

  • To represent the interests of members of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA) and Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) involved in simulation.
  • To provide consultative advice, where requested on matters pertaining to simulation.
  • To convene an annual SIG meeting in conjunction with the Education, Welfare and Management SIGs.
  • To provide information to its members regarding simulation courses and opportunities available to its members both within the Australia and New Zealand region and worldwide.
  • To disseminate information on the uses of simulation to the wider health care community.

 

Activities

The Simulation SIG contributed a session to the ASA NSC on Thursday, September 18 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre titled "Getting everyone on TRAC: The unintended consequences of a simulation course to improve airway management". Speakers included Dr Stuart Marshall, Professor Jan Davies and Assocaite Professor Jenny Weller.

 

The Simulation SIG contributed a workshop and a session to the 2011 CSM in Hong Kong. This session was titled "Team training in anaesthesia- how do we compare". The workshop titled "Is there a doctor on board? - aviation crisis resource management site visit" and was conducted at the Flight Training Center at Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong.

Combined Education, Management, Simulation & Welfare SIG Meeting, 2012:

"Workforce: future force" - REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

 

The Simulation SIG is involved in the annual combined Education, Management, Simulation and Welfare SIG meeting. The next combined SIG meeting will be held at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, from September 21-23, 2012.
