Fellowship
Admission to Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine is by Training and Examination, Election or Honorary Fellowship.
At the end of 2007 there were 226 active and 6 retired Fellows of the Faculty of Pain Medicine. 80% of these Fellows were male, 20% were female. 20.4% were Foundation Fellows, 40.7 % were elected to Fellowship, 2.2% were Honourary Fellows and 36.7% were admitted by Training and Examination.
Fellowship Gown Order Forms
Faculty of Pain Medicine academic gowns in a range of cloths are available from Raymond W. Bredin & Son. Separate order forms are available for local and overseas orders.
List of Fellows
The Faculty publishes a List of Fellows on the Website which includes only those who have given their consent. Should you wish your name to be included, please complete and submit the Web Consent Form.
Continuing Professional Development/MOPS
Since the beginning of 2004, participation in a MOPS/CPD Program has been mandatory for all Fellows of the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
Fellows can complete the MOPS/CPD Program of either their primary specialty College and/or the ANZCA MOPS Program.
In order to comply with MOPS standards/criteria each year the Faculty MOPS Officer will conduct a 5% audit of Fellows requesting confirmation of their participation.
From 2008, the new ANZCA/FPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program has been devised to promote and implement proven and accepted educational standards, strategies and tools to assist Fellows to plan and participate in CPD activities that meet their learning needs, to improve their practice.
The Faculty’s commitment to continuing professional development will be shown by the participation of Fellows in its various programs.
Supervisors of Training
Supervisors of Training (SOTs) are the Faculty's representatives with respect to training in units accredited by the Faculty. SoTs are Fellows of the Faculty, nominated by the Director of an approved unit.
Appointments are made upon the recommendation of the Education and Training Committee and ratified by the Board. Appointments are for an initial term of three years. Supervisors are eligible for reappointment by the Faculty Board. The Supervisor shall not be the Director of the unit unless circumstances are exceptional.
