Trainees
The Faculty of Pain Medicine training program is the main conduit for providing specialist training in pain medicine. Supervised training is offered in faculty-accredited pain medicine units in Australia and New Zealand. Areas of interest to the FPM trainee include:
- Assessor requests: Trainees can request prospective or retrospective approval for deferral of the training program or for accreditation of prior pain medicine experience, for example, part-time training, overseas training, maternity or parental leave.
- International medical graduates: Information for international medical graduates (IMGs) about associate fellowship of the Faculty
- Trainee forms: Forms relating to various stages of the program (for example, applying for examinations, completion of in-training assessments).
- Trainee publications: A range of publications have been developed to support trainees.
- Trainee log book: The Faculty has developed an electronic log book for trainees to document their workload and experience.
- Training unit accreditation: Pain medicine units accredited by the Faculty to provide supervised training experience in pain medicine which complies with the requirements of the Faculty.
- Supervisors of training: Brief description of FPM representatives who assist trainees with their training.
- Courses: The Faculty runs a pre-exam short course annually.
- Examinations: The Faculty holds one examination annually and provides reports each year.
- Admission to fellowship: Admission is by training and examination, honorary fellowship or election.
- Training fees: View a list of the Faculty's 2012 training fees.
- FPM trainee profile: Trainees can access their trainee profile online. This profile displays the record of training, including contact information, record of approved training and assessments (including examination). - Trainee newsletters: Trainees can access the Trainee e-Newsletter online. These newsletters help to keep trainees informed about relevant events and processes.
- AFRM Bi-National Training Program: Following discussions between FPM and the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) to explore opportunities for collaboration, Faculty trainees may attend AFRM’s Bi-National Training Program teaching sessions of relevance to their training.
