About JFICM

The Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine was established in 2002 by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.  It is the body responsible for training and certification for the specialty of intensive care medicine in Australia and New Zealand.

Fellowship is attained following successful completion of the six year training and examination program.  The program is designed to facilitate dual training in anaesthesia or medical training.

The history of the JFICM dates back to the mid-1970s.

The Joint Faculty is administered by a Board and Subcommittees.  Its headquarters and staff are located at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in Melbourne.  Regional Committees are located in each state, and a New Zealand National Committee operates from Wellington, New Zealand.

The JFICM Org Chart depicts all subcommittees of the Board.
