Entry Into the JFICM Training Program

Pre-requisites for Entry to Training

Prospective trainees must have a basic medical degree recognised by the Australian Medical Council or the Medical Council of New Zealand.  Approved Basic Training cannot commence until at least 12 months of general hospital experience after graduation from a medical school have been completed.

Registration

To be registered as a trainee, a medical practitioner may register with the Faculty on completion of 12 months of wholetime rotating clinical duties in a Hospital (General Hospital Appointments) after graduating from a medical school.   If registering for Advanced Training, trainees must be registered within three months of commencing in an approved post in order to have advanced training accredited.

Registration forms can be downloaded here.

For further information, see the overview of the Training program, or contact Sumithra Subasinghe, Administrative Assistant (Training).
