AMC & MCNZ
Applications for specialist recognition in Australia, and vocational registration in New Zealand, must be firstly directed to the AMC or MCNZ in the first instance
In Australia, under an agreement between the Specialist Medical Colleges, State Medical Boards and the Australian Medical Council (AMC), the application from the OTS is initially referred to the AMC for processing. In New Zealand, the application from the OTS must initially go to the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) for processing. Assessments cannot be obtained by the applicant making a direct approach to the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (JFICM). All original documents supporting the application must be forwarded via the AMC or MCNZ. If the application meets the criteria set by the AMC and MCNZ, the documentation will be forwarded to the JFICM for assessment of training, experience and qualifications. An assessment fee is payable to the Joint Faculty, once the application is lodged and accepted by the relevant Medical Council.
