Overseas Trained Specialists & Area of Need
Information for International Medical Graduates seeking to practice in Australia or New Zealand
Overseas doctors seeking specialist recognition in intensive care medicine in Australia, or Vocational Registration in New Zealand must undergo a process of assessment, via the Australian Medical Council, or Medical Council of New Zealand.
Details are outlined in the JFICM's policy statement.
In order to be eligible for this process, doctors must have certification as an intensive care specialist in their country of training.
Following assessment by the JFICM (via the relevant Medical Council), the doctor may be eligible to apply for Fellowship.
