Better, Cheaper, Faster - Changing Values in Anaesthesia

Combined Education, Simulation, Welfare and Management SIG: 29 – 31 August 2008, Queenstown New Zealand

The theme of the meeting addresses the economic imperatives creeping in to surgical and anaesthesia services and the impact of these on personal health, quality and safety and education.

Can we work faster? Where are savings to be made and how does this impact on the quality of our practice, the effectiveness of workplace education, and our wellbeing?

The sessions in the program include:

  • Simulation SIG session on team communication in the operating theatre with the invited speaker John Cartmill, Professor of Surgery at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie University 

  • Medical Education Workshop: achieving your CPD credits

  • Back to Basics, assessment and feedback workshop

  • Review of mentoring programs

  • Measuring efficiency and scheduling in theatre
