Regulation 5

Note:  Dates in italics flag the dates of recent changes to the regulation, e.g., 10/04 indicates a change made to the following paragraph in October 2004.

5.1   For Fellows, a black stuff gown with looped sleeves, facings 35 mm gold, 35 mm gap, 35 mm gold, the gold bands to join at the shoulder line and be continued on as a 70 mm band around the back of the yoke.  A 35 mm gold band around the cuff of the sleeve.

5.2   For Members of the Council of the College, as for Fellows but having a 35 mm gold band around the hem of the gown and each sleeve gathered with six gold silk faced buttons tied together in three pairs with braided gold silk cord.

During their term only, Members of the Council of the College carry badges of office consisting of two stiffened tabs 105 x 50mm faced in gold silk and trimmed around the edge with braided gold silk cord fastened across the facings at mid-chest.  These badges are relinquished upon retirement from the Council.

5.3   For the Vice-President, a black gown made from pure wool in the style of a University Chancellor's gown, faced with black velvet 80mm, at the bottom and tapering to 50mm at the yoke, trimmed with 35mm of gold bullion braid on each side of the velvet and continued around the sailor collar as a border.  The sleeves are trimmed with 25mm of gold bullion braid around the arm-hole, one bar of black velvet 50mm in width at the sleeve-head edged with 25mm of gold bullion braid.  Around the bottom of the sleeves is one bar of 35mm of gold bullion braid.  A tab 10cms x 5cms made from 35mm of gold bullion braid is placed on each front facing level with the sleeve bars.

5.4   For the President, a black gown made from pure wool in the style of a University Chancellor's gown faced with red velvet 80mm at the bottom and tapering to 50mm at the yoke, trimmed with 35mm of gold bullion braid on each side of the velvet and continued around the sailor collar as a border, the remainder of the yoke being black velvet.  The sleeves are trimmed with 25mm of gold bullion braid around the arm-hole, and one bar of red velvet 50mm in width at the sleeve-head edged with 25mm of gold bullion braid.  Around the bottom of the sleeves is one bar of 35mm of gold bullion braid.  A tab 10cms x 5cms made from 35mm of gold bullion is placed on each front facing level with the sleeve bars.

5.5   For the CEO a black gown made in pure wool with front facings and yoke in black velvet, trimmed with 12.5mm gold oak-leaf braid.  One stiffened tab of office in gold silk 7.5cm x 3.5cm surrounded with 12.5mm gold oak-leaf braid on each facing.  The sleeves are closed and gathered and held by three strips of gold braid and gold buttons.
