  • 4.1 There shall be Subcommittees for the Primary Examination and Final Examinations.  These Subcommittees shall be appointed at the November Council Meeting and function from the beginning of the subsequent year. They shall be responsible to the Council through the Examinations Committee reporting via the Chair of the Education and Training Committee.

  • 4.2 The Subcommittee for the Primary Examination shall consist of a Chair, Deputy Chair, Chair of Examinations, Chair of Examinations (or equivalent) of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand or nominee, Chair of the Faculty of Pain Medicine Examination, and four other members, with the power to co-opt.

  • 4.3 The Subcommittee for the Final Examinations shall consist of a Chair, Deputy Chair, Chair of Examinations, and eight other members, with the power to co-opt.

  • 4.4 The tenure of office of the Chairs of the Primary and Final Examination Subcommittee should not normally exceed three years.
  • 4.5 There shall be a Panel of Examiners which shall be appointed by the Council from time to time upon the advice of the Chair of Examinations.
  • 4.6 The tenure of appointment of an Examiner shall be three years and shall date from 1st January following the appointment (including the probationary period). An Examiner will be eligible for reappointment for three further three year terms and such reappointments shall be made at the October Council Meeting.

  • 4.7 Any person who has been an Examiner may fill a vacancy at the discretion of the Chair of the appropriate Examination Subcommittee or nominee.
  • 4.8 Courts of Examiners will be appointed for individual Examinations by the Chair of the appropriate Subcommittee or nominee.
  • 4.9 All proceedings and reports of any Committee shall be confidential and privileged.

  • 4.10 A quorum for each Examination Subcommittee will be a majority of voting members. If at any time the number of members is less than a quorum, the committee may meet only for discussion purposes.
  • 4.11 Questions arising at a meeting of each Examination Subcommittee (either in person, by teleconference or webinar) are decided by a majority of votes of voting members present and voting, with abstentions not being counted in the total number of votes. The Chair has a casting vote in addition to a deliberative vote where there is an equality of votes. For an electronic vote, questions are decided in the affirmative if at least 75% of all voting members (other than any member on leave of absence or any member abstaining in writing) vote in favour.
