Regulation 13
GILBERT BROWN PRIZE
Note: Dates in italics flag the dates of recent changes to the regulation, e.g., 10/04 indicates a change made to the following paragraph in October 2004.
The Gilbert Brown Prize was established by the Faculty of Anaesthetists, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, in 1961.
13.1 The Prize shall be awarded to the Fellow judged to make the best contribution to the free research paper session named the Gilbert Brown Prize Session at each Annual Scientific Meeting.

13.2 The Prize shall take the form of a medal and will be accompanied by a grant of up to $1,000 for educational purposes upon presentation of receipts. The Gilbert Brown Prize winner will also receive a certificate recognising the award.

13.3 Eligibility for the Prize shall be limited to Fellows of the College and its Faculties within eight years of admission to Fellowship, except that Elected Fellows must be within eight years of admission to their original Fellowship.
Any problems related to eligibility for the Prize shall be referred to the President for delegation to the most appropriate Committee.
13.4 The Council shall, from time to time, appoint three adjudicators for the Prize in addition to the Chairman of the Research Committee who will Chair the Adjudication Panel. This task may be delegated to the Chairman of the ASM Committee. Adjudicators shall have the power to co-opt at the Annual Scientific Meeting should one or more of the adjudicators be unable to attend.

13.5 If in the opinion of the adjudicators no paper reaches a sufficiently high standard, the Prize will not be awarded.
13.6 If necessary, the Scientific Convenors will pre-select papers for the Gilbert Brown Prize Session on the basis of the submitted abstracts.
