Retrospective Module Completion
Retrospective approval of prior training time does not automatically exempt you from the requirement to complete Modules.
Modules covered under retrospective training time may be signed off by your Module Supervisor and/or current Supervisor of Training, after satisfactory discussion about the relevant module experience, and the provision of satisfactory documentation (e.g. log book or signed entry in Learning Portfolio) to support the completion of the Module.
Module signoff should occur as per ANZCA Professional Document TE2: Policy on Vocational Training Modules and Module Supervision.
Modules should be documented in the usual manner, using a Module Completion Form. These forms are provided with your Learning Portfolio, a hard copy of which is posted to you upon registration with ANZCA. Hard copies of the Module Completion Form may also be obtained from your Supervisor of Training.
Module completion can be verified retrospectively for those who gain retrospective accreditation of experience in:
-
partial training in a foreign training program (refer to Regulation 15.11.1)
-
an Affiliated Training Region (refer to Regulation 15.11.2)
-
previous UK SHO experience (refer to Regulation 15.11.3)
-
retrospectively accredited training time (refer to Regulation 15.11.4)
For Trainees who obtain experience that may contribute towards completion of module requirements whilst overseas, modules may be signed off by a Supervisor of Training when back in an ANZCA Accredited Hospital (on presentation of satisfactory documented evidence).
