International medical graduate specialists
The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) does not register specialists but can assess international specialists and advise on their suitability to practise in Australia and New Zealand.
ANZCA’s international medical graduate specialist (IMGS)
assessment process evaluates the ability of a specialist to practise as
an unsupervised specialist anaesthetist at a standard comparable to that
required of a Fellow of ANZCA (FANZCA). ANZCA’s IMGS Committee
co-ordinates the assessment guided by ANZCA’s regulation 23.
International medical graduate specialists with a basic medical
degree from an Australian or New Zealand university, who undertook their
specialist training overseas, should apply directly to ANZCA.
Applications for assessment of specialist qualifications in Australia must be made to the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and applications for medical registration must be made to the Medical Board of Australia (MBA). For further information, please email imgs@anzca.edu.au.
All applications in New Zealand must be made to the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
For further information, please email assessments@anzca.org.nz.
