Perioperative Medicine SIG

The Perioperative Medicine SIG has three aims:

  1. Improving patient safety and outcomes.
  2. Collaborating and sharing knowledge with other specialist groups.
  3. Developing perioperative medicine with various craft groups.

Future meetings

  • The 2024 Perioperative Medicine SIG meeting will be held at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins from 22-24 November. Registrations will open in early July. If you have any questions, please contact events.

ANZELA-QI

The Australian and New Zealand Emergency Laparotomy Audit - Quality Improvement (ANZELA-QI), co-led by ANZCA and RACS, is a bi-national, multi-centre project that aims to improve perioperative care of patients undergoing emergency laparotomy. There is a compelling case for a high quality, prospective audit to help drive quality improvement for this at-risk patient cohort. Similar initiatives internationally have demonstrated significantly enhanced processes of care and reduction in mortality. Already, the project has enrolled 50 hospitals across both countries, and is hoping for more centres to join.

For further information and participation, visit the ANZELA-QI website.
