Dr Pragya Ajitsaria

Dr Pragya Ajitsaria is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist, Conjoint Lecturer, and Co-Director of the Perioperative Services at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW.

The challenge of improving perioperative care to vulnerable patient groups has driven her interest in researching and developing a model of care that focuses more attention on these groups of patients in the pre-operative period.

With generous support from NSW Regional Health Partners, and in collaboration with the Hunter Medical Research Institute, she is currently leading an RCT into a multidisciplinary Shared Decision Making model of care for the ‘high risk’ population considering surgery at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW.
