Dr de Gray trained in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in the East of England Deanery. She is currently a Consultant Anaesthetist practising in Pain medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Norfolk, UK.  She was Clinical Lead for the Pain Service from 2007 to 2018. 
 
She has been a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists since its inception in 2007, holding various roles in the Faculty including Local Pain Medical Educational Supervisor (Ipswich 2007–2010), East of England Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine (2010–2016), Chair of the Regional Advisors in Pain Medicine and Co-opted Board member (2013–2016), Member, Vice Chair and Chair of the Training and Assessment Committee of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (2013–2020), appointed Board member 2018 to-date and Vice Dean 2019 to 2022. She has been leading on Credentialing of Pain Medicine in the UK since 2018. Dr de Gray was recently elected Dean of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. 
 
Dr de Gray was appointed as a Specialty Editor in Pain medicine for the Elsevier Journal of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in 2016 and is also Lead Editor for FPM-Learning, an open resource for all trainees providing a variety of Pain Medicine teaching materials.
