Dr Therese O'Connor

Dr Therese O’Connor FFARCSI, FFPMCAI is a consultant in aaesthesiology and pain medicine in Sligo, Ireland. She is a member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) and is Pain Medicine Curriculum Development Lead. She is also a member of the council of CAI and the current president of the Irish Pain Society.

Dr O'Connor is author of a book, Atlas of Pain Injection Techniques. Her main research interest is in the field of anxiety, endocannabinoids and their modulation of pain perception and she is currently undertaking research work on this subject in NUI Galway.

Other research interests include:

• Factors that influence pain thresholds and tolerance and how these might be modified to assist patients with pain problems to help themselves. 
• Interventional pain procedures – checklists and safe practice,
• Technology and pain medicine.
