Dr Susie Lord FFPMANZCA (NSW)

FPM board member 

Dr Susie Lord is a specialist pain medicine physician with a background in research and anaesthesia. She graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1991, then undertook doctoral research into procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical spinal pain, receiving the IASP Ronald Dubner Research Prize in 1999, before undertaking vocational training. 

She is clinical lead at the Children's Complex Pain Service, John Hunter Children’s Hospital, and conjoint senior lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle. For FPM, she is a board member, chairs document development groups, and is on Professional Standards Committee, the ANZCA Indigenous Health Committee, and Safety and Quality Committee. 
 
She is a contributor to the Pain and Palliative Symptom (PaPaS) Cochrane Group and Therapeutic Guidelines, Australia.

Her clinical interests include pain in childhood and adolescence, and improving care for First Nations people and those in rural and remote areas.
