Dr Basil Matta
Consultant in Anaesthesia and Neurotrauma Critical Care Associate Professor, University of Cambridge Senior Medical Director (Part-time), Masimo
Dr Basil Matta is the past Divisional Director for Musculoskeletal, Digestive Diseases, Major Trauma and Perioperative Care Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals, where he was a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, and Associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge. Dr Matta has clinical and managerial experience at the local, national and international levels, and have held leadership roles at a number of National and International Medical Societies - President of the Neuroanaesthesia Society of Great Britain & Ireland and President of the Society of International Neuroanaesthesia & Critical Care. Dr Matta served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and Critical Care and the European Journal of Anaesthesiology and is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr Matta is a regular speaker and moderator at international events which include those at the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the European Society of Anaesthesiology, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, several other national societies, and at Arab Health.
In October 2020, Dr Matta took up the role of Senior Medical Director for Masimo International.
