Candidate statement

I bring to Council a Rural Anaesthetic Perspective

  • I have lived and worked in Rural, North West Tasmania for over 22 years in both the public and private sectors.
  • I understand the challenges facing Rural and Remote Communities and the FANZCAs who work in them.
  • Currently the only ANZCA Councilor living and working outside a major metropolitan area.


Governance Experience

  • Three years of experience on ANZCA Council (2019-2022).
  • Appropriate qualifications (GAICD / ARACMA).
  • Health Governance experience in the Tasmanian Health Service for over 6 years


Education Background

  • Chair of the Tripartite Committee responsible for the introduction of the Diploma of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia.
  • Involved with the 2013 ANZCA curriculum revision.
  • Previous SOT.
  • Undergraduate Medical Education experience with the University of Tasmania.
  • Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals


Leadership experience

  • Director of Tasmanian Rural Training Hub.
  • Previous Co- Director of Rural Clinical School in Tasmania.
  • Previous HOD


Work / Life Balance

Many interests outside Anaesthesia including farming, gardening, swimming, cooking, golfing, windsurfing, snowboarding, traveling and enjoying the company of friends and family.
