2021 Scan and Ski workshop

Please join us for the 2021 Scan and Ski Workshop "Regional ultrasound scanning workshop for peripheral nerve blocks" from Thursday 22 July to Saturday 24 July at Thredbo Alpine Hotel in the Kosciuszko National Park, NSW.

Location and venue

The 2021 "Scan and ski workshop" will be held at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel.

Program

Hands-on ultrasound scanning and instruction will be held during the morning and evening sessions, leaving the middle of each day free for skiing or sightseeing in the beautiful NSW Snowy Mountains.

The workshop will cover upper-limb blocks, lower-limb blocks, trunk, and spinal blocks, among other topics. We are also pleased to announce the inclusion of a Can’t Intubate Can’t Oxygenate (CICO) workshop into the program.

A program will be available late 2020.

Invited speakers

The workshop will feature world-renowned ultrasound specialists Dr Alwin Chuan, Dr David M Scott, Dr Peter Hebbard, Dr Andrew Lansdown and Dr Chris Mitchell.

We would like to thank the FANZCA speakers and workshop facilitators who donate many hours of their time to organise, prepare and present at the regional ACE meetings.

Welcome drinks, Thursday night
Welcome drinks will be held from 6pm on Thursday 22 July. It is included in your registration fee but additional tickets can be purchased for $A44

Après ski refreshments, Friday afternoon
Après ski refreshments will be held on Friday 23 July. It is included in your registration fee but additional tickets can be purchased for $A44

Après ski refreshments, Saturday afternoon
Après ski refreshments will be held on Saturday 24 July. It is included in your registration fee but additional tickets can be purchased for $A44

Workshop dinner, Saturday night
The workshop dinner will be held from 8pm on Saturday 24 July. It is included in your registration fee but additional tickets can be purchased for $A99

Cost and registration

The registration fee includes welcome drinks on Thursday 22 July, attendance at the workshop on Friday and Saturday (including afternoon refreshments) and a workshop dinner on the Saturday.
The workshop is limited to a small group only to ensure maximum time with the instructors and equipment, so register early to avoid missing out. 
Additional tickets for social functions can be purchased for your guests. All registration fees are quoted in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST. 

Registration will open late 2020.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee, however, Thredbo Village has a vast range of accommodation options including at the workshop venue, Thredbo Alpine Hotel, which offers double/twin rooms or apartments. If you wish to stay at the workshop venue it is advisable to book early as the event falls on the same weekend as the ever-popular “Top to Bottom” festival.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD Program will automatically have their attendance accredited to their CPD portfolio within 14 days of the conclusion of the meeting.

ANZCA and FPM CPD Program approval
This event is claimable by ANZCA and FPM CPD participants within the knowledge and skills and emergency responses categories.
Knowledge and skills activities
Lectures for one credit per hour. Workshops and small group discussions for two credits per hour.

Emergency responses activities
Where the outline of a workshop states that the workshop satisfies an Emergency Response CPD requirement, the workshop will be prospectively recognised as suitable to be claimed as an emergency response activity. This refers to workshops covering management of:

  • Can’t intubate and can’t oxygenate (CICO)
