CPD review project update
12 September 2022
We are updating the ANZCA and FPM continuing professional development (CPD) program due to revised regulatory guidelines. Following ANZCA Council’s approval of the updated CPD requirements, the project has moved into the communication and implementation phase.
The Continuing Professional Development Review Project Group (CPD-RPG) last met on 5 September 2022. The group discussed the communications planned for the reminder of 2022 and the work to embed cultural safety and a focus on health equity across the CPD program. Group members also considered updates to key CPD collateral (including the standard, handbook and portfolio).
Communications
All CPD participants should have received an email outlining their individual arrangements for their transition to the 2023 CPD program. More information is on the 2023 CPD program webpage.
Following the 2023 program announcement, communications focus will turn to aiding understanding of the updated requirements and supporting fellows and CPD participants with various scopes of practice to meet the requirements.
The table below outlines communications activities planned for the remainder of the year.

Cultural safety
Work is continuing to embed cultural safety and a focus on health equity across the CPD program. We've had an initial meeting with the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori consultants who are collaborating on this piece of work. We're aiming to have a planning day before the end of the year and to implement a consultation process with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori peoples in early 2023.
CPD collateral
CPD-RPG members have begun work to review and update key pieces of CPD collateral. The CPD standard, CPD mandatory compliance policy and CPD special consideration policy will be updated in line with the revised regulatory requirements where necessary. The CPD handbook is undergoing a light-touch review to include information about the 2023 CPD program and ensure the content is user-friendly. While the look and feel of the online CPD portfolio will remain largely the same, the system is being updated to incorporate the 2023 program requirements. User testing of the upgraded system is due to take place in October 2022.
Want to get involved with testing the upgraded CPD portfolio?
We're looking for CPD participants to assist with user testing of the upgraded online CPD portfolio. This will take approximately 30 minutes and will help make sure it meets your needs. Please contact Katy Elliott to indicate your interest.
