CPD review project update - July 2022
18 July 2022
The Continuing Professional Development Review Project Group (CPD-RPG) continues to review and update the ANZCA and FPM CPD program throughout 2022.
The aim has been to ensure participants meet revised regulatory requirements from the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
As reported in the previous project update, the project group have proposed an updated CPD framework which is now awaiting ANZCA Council’s approval.
At the latest meeting in July 2022, the project group discussed work to embed cultural safety and a focus on health equity into the CPD program, as well as planning for the next stages of the project – transition and implementation.

Cultural safety and health equity in the CPD program
Planning is underway to work with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori consultants and implement a wider consultation process to determine how we can appropriately embed cultural safety and a focus on health equity throughout the ANZCA and FPM CPD program. We anticipate this work to take place in late 2022 - early 2023. The CPD-RPG and CPD Committee members will also attend cultural safety training sessions in the second half of 2022.
Next steps – Transition and implementation
There are currently no changes to CPD requirements or submission dates. We ask all participants to concentrate on updating your CPD portfolio to reflect completed CPD activities.
Following anticipated approval of the updated CPD framework in late July, we will share the updated CPD requirements on the project webpage and in college publications. We intend the transition to the updated CPD program to be seamless, automatic and tailored to each triennium. All CPD participants will receive an email in the first week of August to support the transition. We will also share plans for updates to the CPD handbook and online CPD portfolio in August – September 2022.
