Blue Book critical care editor role

16 August 2022

We’re looking for a qualified consultant to join the Australasian Anaesthesia (also known as the “Blue Book”) team in an editor role focusing on critical care content.

The Blue Book is produced every two years and contains a diverse range of topics of interest to anaesthetists, intensive care physicians, perioperative practitioners, and pain medicine specialists.

The critical care editor will promote and review content for this biennial publication. Editors for Australasian Anaesthesia have responsibility for handling manuscripts and advising the editor-in-chief on their suitability for publication. The role includes selecting appropriate reviewers (when needed), reviewing initial submissions, supervision of manuscript revisions, and recommending a final draft to the editor-in-chief.

Editors also play an active role in recruiting and inviting submissions from authors. Editors are supported by the greater network of editors, the editor-in-chief, and the communications team at ANZCA.

The editor will have relevant background in critical care clinical practice. Applicants should be engaged in clinical, educational and research activities within intensive care. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential. Previous experience in peer review and publishing is not necessary but will be favoured.
