Exams update for Victoria

10 July 2020

Advice about the August primary and final written anaesthesia exams in Victoria.

The college is very conscious of the increased uncertainty that exists due to the new COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in Victoria for the next six weeks. This is having an impact both personally and professionally.
We want to specifically update you on the written anaesthesia exams in Victoria – the primary exam on 18 August, which falls within the lockdown period, and the final exam scheduled for 28 August (outside the lockdown).
The college is working with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to ascertain how we may be able to safely deliver the written exams. The Victorian DHHS is aware of the potential impacts of exams not progressing and is working with the college on how we may be able to conduct them.
We are very early in our discussions and a final decision will need to be made by the Victorian chief health officer.
We will keep you informed of progress in our planning and are hopeful of delivering the exams as scheduled with additional precautions.
In the meantime, we urge all fellows and trainees to take care of themselves in these challenging times and to please utilise our doctors’ health and wellbeing resources should you need them, including the college’s confidential Doctor’s Support Program.
