New perioperative care framework

The perioperative care framework maps the patient’s journey from time surgery is contemplated through to an optimal outcome.

This framework identifies key principles in the perioperative care journey and provides recommendations and resources for perioperative medicine. The perioperative care framework can help guide training, service development and improvement, and research in perioperative medicine. 

We have used the perioperative care framework document to develop an interactive graphic. Both the interactive graphic and document are available here.  

The perioperative care framework is a core component of the college’s Advancing Perioperative Medicine Project. It was developed by the Perioperative Care Working Group, and approved by ANZCA Council in their December 2021 meeting.
