David Healy is an Associate Professor in Anesthesiology who works to enhance the care of patients underwing surgical procedures of the Head and Neck. He completed specialty training in the UK before joining the department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed board certification through the American Board of Anesthesiology.  While at Michigan David founded the division of Head and Neck Anesthesiology, led fellowship specialty training, and was a founding member and inaugural President of the Society for Head and Neck Anesthesia (founded in Chicago, 2012).

David has published multiple peer reviewed papers in the field of prediction of difficult airway management, airway device performance, and clinical outcomes in Head and Neck surgical patients.  He most recently chaired the expert consensus statement working group of the Society for Head and Neck Anesthesia, developing clinical practice recommendations for this patient population.

David is interested in measures of physician performance, continuing professional development and team training. He is the Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education and Lifelong Learning at Michigan Medicine. He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife Karen, their twin boys (aged 7), and their dog Monty (a wheaten terrier).
