Associate Professor Lisa Leffert

Dr Lisa Leffert is an Associate Professor of Harvard Medical School and a senior member of the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where she serves as the Chief of the Obstetric Anesthesia Division. Lisa is Immediate Past President of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP).

Lisa lectures nationally and internationally on diverse topics such as the anesthetic management of patients with intracranial lesions, strategies for placing neuraxial anesthetics in patients with diverse comorbidities, and the peri-delivery care of patients with substance use disorder and does research on obstetric patients with neurologic disease.  Having led an interdisciplinary effort to create a SOAP consensus statement on neuraxial anesthesia in the obstetric patient on thromboprophylaxis and higher dose anticoagulants, Lisa recently completed a similar effort related to neuraxial anesthesia in pregnant women with thrombocytopenia.
