Supply shortage of ranitidine-containing products

Contamination with N-nitrosodimethylamine and removal from the Australian market

The TGA is advising consumers and health professionals that several ranitidine-containing products have been removed from the Australian market due to contamination with an impurity called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA).

As a result, a shortage of several ranitidine-containing products and health professionals may need to discuss with pharmacies and consider alternative pre-operative management plans.
