Faculty of Pain Medicine

ulimaroa-external-2007-1-we.jpgThe Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) is responsible for training, education and standards for Pain Medicine in Australia and New Zealand.

Pain medicine is a multidisciplinary field of specialist medical practice that has matured relatively recently. The field recognises that the management of severe pain problems requires the skills of more than one medical discipline.

The Faculty of Pain Medicine was established within the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), incorporating true multidisciplinary representation from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (RACP) (AFRM RACP).

Headquarters for administration, training and examination are located in offices of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in Melbourne.
