Professor Lara Varpio

Dr Lara Varpio is Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Research for the Center for Health Professions Education at the Uniformed Services University in the US. Dr Varpio is internationally recognised for her expertise in qualitative research and theory. Lara is interested in understanding how individuals influence how they are understood by groups, and how groups shape the understandings of individuals. This foundation has sparked her research into interprofessional healthcare teams, the use of electronic health records, the place of qualitative research in medical education, and the role of health professions education scholarship units in hospitals and medical schools.
