Pain medicine training program

The pain medicine training program comprises a minimum of two years' clinical experience directly related to pain medicine, which allows specialists and those completing a speciality training program to become a specialist pain medicine physician.

Training in the first year is undertaken in units accredited by the faculty while the second year of training may be in a FPM accredited unit or in a another unit for which prospective approval is sought.  The program is underpinned by a curriculum, by-law 4 FPM Training Program and the FPM Training Handbook. Opportunities for regular feedback are incorporated into the training program and a number of resources are available to support learning.

If you trained as a specialist pain medicine physician overseas or wish to apply for short-term training, please visit the Specialist International Medical Graduates page.
