The 2023 Blue Book is here!

The 2023 edition of Australasian Anaesthesia (AKA the Blue Book) is now available.
The Blue Book is a biennial publication of invited papers and selected continuing medical education lectures of interest to anaesthetists, specialist pain medicine physicians and trainees.
Australasian Anaesthesia 2023 is Associate Professor Matt Doane's first as editor. It includes 18 chapters covering a diverse range of topics from across an equally broad geographic footprint, and has involved months of collaboration and hard work.
The material collected in each of this edition’s articles provides a unique opportunity to express knowledge and expertise that is both poignant and unique to our local clinical environments. We’ve got some great new initiatives this year – including the fantastic addition of two new editors from Hong Kong. You’ll also notice each chapter has a digital object identifier (DOI) that provides it with a permanent URL which will help chapters in the Blue Book be referenced in other publications.
In the future, we’re working to add new features and options to the Blue Book, such as audio recordings, podcast interviews with authors to expand on content in the articles, poster summaries of articles at major ANZCA meetings, and even publishing online ahead of print articles in the non-publication years, to help keep content flowing and readers abreast of new topics.

Hard copies will be available later this year for a small cost to cover postage and handling. We’ll send a complimentary copy to each editor and author as well as to our training hospitals for keeping on site.
We hope the material included, and the new features which are to be released in the future, will support your professional careers and inspire some of you to contribute to the next edition as well.
