Celebrating International Women’s Day 2024

08 March 2024

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Gender Equity Sub-committee are pleased to present a guided discussion pack for download.

We celebrate women today, and every day. In support of our gender equity action plan, the Gender Equity Sub-committee (GESC) have released a guided discussion pack for International Women's Day (IWD) 2024 and encourage members to download and discuss the broad range of topics to keep the conversation going.

With the intent being to encourage fellows, trainees and specialist international medical graduates (SIMGs) to come together and celebrate this day by having a conversation around gender equity, what it looks like, what the barriers in your local setting might be, and bring focus to areas such as mentoring, leadership, intersectionality, unconscious bias and the gender pay gap.

All with a view to raise further awareness of the challenges in achieving gender equity in the anaesthesia and pain medicine setting and in support of the United Nations IWD theme “Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress”.

Please find the discussion pack here, which is accompanied by an audio introduction from Dr Claire Stewart, Chair GESC. We encourage you to read more about the activities and upcoming events for the GESC here and encourage you to register for the gender equity activities at the upcoming ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Brisbane, May 3-7.
