Dr Genevieve Goulding completed her medical studies at the University of New South Wales, gained Fellowship of the Faculty of Anaesthetists at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1986, and FANZCA in 1992.

Dr Goulding, along with Dr Di Khursandi, took a leading role in the formation and continuation of the Welfare of Anaesthetists Special Interest Group which began in 1997. 

She was elected as ANZCA President in 2014, the fourth successive woman president. Her presidency centred on professionalism, workforce, advocacy, and strengthening ANZCA and FPM services. 

She has worked as an obstetric anaesthetist in Sydney and Brisbane and retired from clinical practice in 2021. She is a member of the Queensland Medical Board’s committees as well as a medical adviser for QCAT. 

Dr Goulding was awarded the AMA Women in Medicine award in 2017 and AM in the King’s Birthday Honours in 2023.
