Dr Rodney Mitchell, FANZCA (SA)

Dr Rod Mitchell is resident in Adelaide South Australia, and has a number of appointments in both urban and rural hospitals. He spent nine years working in Central Australia, initially as a remote area primary health care physician and subsequently as the Director of Anaesthesia at the Alice Springs Hospital.

He was elected to ANZCA Council in 2010 and took office as ANZCA president in May 2018, finishing in May 2020.

As an ANZCA Councillor, including his time as President, much of his energy has focussed on promoting improved equity of access to health care, particularly in relation to our rural and our indigenous communities, and to those communities in low income countries.
