Dr Andrea Bowyer MBBS FANZCA PhD MCLINUS

Arndrea is a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is a clinical senior lecturer and director of clinical ultrasound in the Department of Surgery, The University of Melbourne. Her clinical research has focused on developing and defining the abstract quantity that is the quality of patient’s postoperative recovery, with a particular interest in individualized recovery assessment using the PostopQRS. Her PhD successfully validated the PostopQRS as a recovery assessment tool and outcome measure in clinical trials and investigated the effect of real-time feedback of information to patients regarding their own recovery.

Andrea was instrumental in the creation and was the lead investigator in the real-time recovery (RTR) pilot study which has recently reached successful completion and continues her contribution this field of research as a post-doctorate principal investigator of further multi-center randomised control trials.
