Clinical Lead and Director of The International Spine Centre®

Mr Yau has specialty recognition as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery and is a fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (ANZCA). He is Clinical Lead and Director of The International Spine Centre, an interdisciplinary private practice pioneering collaborative approaches to the management of spinal disorders and pain. Mr Yau is the Co-founder & Clinical Director of 3D Research@TISC, the research division of The International Spine Centre.
 
YH was born in Scotland, educated in Edinburgh, graduated from The University of Edinburgh Medical School and undertook higher surgical training in the United Kingdom, receiving Specialty Board of Neurosurgery recognition in 2004. His subspecialty training in spinal surgery was completed through a fellowship at the Nottingham AOSpine Reference Centre in the United Kingdom.
 
He moved to Australia in 2007, where he commenced his roles as Clinical Senior Lecturer and consultant in spinal surgery at the University of Adelaide and the Royal Adelaide Hospital Spinal Injuries Unit, heading the unit in the latter years, before leaving the public system in 2023. He continues in an honorary position to the University of Adelaide and is actively involved in undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training, including medical student and intern guidance on research through 3D Research, as well as accredited fellowship supervision. He is former chair of the Education Committee on the AO Spine Asia-Pacific Board and remains an AO International Foundation Senior Trustee.
